The last dream

Thinking of the dream, where we lay together

I felt my beating heart and put pen to paper.

Wishing to pour out an ounce of what I felt

I lay awake on the wet grass as the stars stared into my pettiness

O my screeching heart, looking for solace in the sky’s vastness

Found deep in itself an utter emptiness.

I felt the wind blow by;

Reminding me of our stolen kiss

O the taste of forbidden fruit, O what bliss!

I lay still awake as the stars fell asleep

I lay there under the changing sky; the cold tingling my feet.

To dream of you again, I closed my eyes

Falling into the dark oblivion, in your arms I found my peace.

They said the body on the grass lay lifeless,

I knew better with the last breath I had found life again.
